The final of the Australian Spoons will take place in Portarlington Golf Club on Monday 26th August 2019. It is an honour for Portarlington Golf Club to host this event which will showcase our wonderful course.
The Australian Spoons were presented to the ILGU in 1967 by the Australian Ladies Golf Union to support players representing Ireland at International Competitions.
Clubs are invited each year to hold 18 hole Stableford Greensomes qualifying competitions with the winning pairs (net) going forward to represent their clubs to the District Finals. Portarlington Golf Club (Ladies Branch) regularly enters a team in the competition but unfortunately our representatives in the District Final this year did not make the final.
The winners, runners-up, gross, 3rd and 4th best pairs from each District venue qualify to play for the Australian Spoons.
On Monday 26th August, some 60 ladies as well as their supporters from the four corners of Ireland (from Belfast to Kerry; from Galway to Dublin) will converge on Portarlington Golf Club for this prestigious occasion.
Tee times on the day will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. so why not come out on the day and see some of the best amateur lady golfers in Ireland compete for the Australian Spoons. Prizes will be presented in the Clubhouse on the day (at approximately 5:00 p.m.)
We wish all the competitors in the event the best of luck and good golfing.
